Eastern Europe
The Eastern European countries
of Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia are currently the most
active in recruiting teachers. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall,
Eastern Europe greatly increased their demand for English teachers.
Turkey also has an exceptionally high demand for qualified teachers.
A TESOL teacher's wage is considerably higher than local wages (much
higher in comparison to the cost of living), but may be low by North
American standards. In most cases you will be able to save money from
month to month, and private tutoring will definitely help your ability
to save even more.
People love teaching here because of the great benefits, incredible
experiences, low cost of living, and close proximity to Western
European travel destinations

•
Western Europe
In Western European countries, you may
encounter stricter work visa laws, but due to the global demand for
American English, more opportunities arise each year. There remains a
high demand in Spain, Portugal and Greece, and some language schools
even prefer to hire North American TESOL-qualified teachers. There are
also opportunities for live-in private tutoring of children.

•
Latin America
In Latin America, it is relatively easy to
find work in private schools in Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile,
Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador and Argentina.
Winter on the beach! Mexico, Central and South America have great
opportunities all year long and have increased salaries and better
working conditions due to the improving economic status of the
countries in this area. Central America has perfect opportunities if
you would just like to get away for a short-term position, although
yearlong contracts are equally as common. You will make enough money
to enjoy all the sites and to really experience these countries. South
America has more lucrative positions available, especially in Chile,
Argentina and Brazil.

•
Middle East
The Middle East is known for its mystique
and magic. Some of the most studious students you will encounter are
in the Middle East, and this makes teaching enjoyable and rewarding.
Most positions require a minimum of one year of teaching experience
(many require a Bachelor degree or Masters), so most teachers work
here after they have taught elsewhere for at least a year. Middle
Eastern countries offer excellent salaries and generous bonuses in
their contracts. In most cases airfare is paid for, some even include
an extra return flight to come back to North America for a holiday
during the contract term.
Culture Shock! You must be able to adapt to a new way of life in
order to teach in this part of the world, and in doing so, you will
enjoy the rewards that these countries have to offer. There are jobs
available for teaching to children, adults, teaching TOEFL, and
business English.
Africa offers the best in incredible experiences, exotic travel, and
fascinating people. Salaried positions in Egypt, Morocco and Kenya are
common, while many other countries have excellent volunteer-type
positions, many of which include airfare, accommodation, and a per
diem pay for living expenses.

Western Countries
All Native English-speaking Countries such as the United States of
America, Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland and Ireland
see an overwhelming demand for English instruction, as foreign
immigration and foreign student rates increase. All of these
non-English speaking people (university students, people wishing to
enter the work force, school children, etc.) NEED to not only learn,
but to communicate in English in order to survive. School boards and
their teachers continually complain about this problematic situation.
A growing number of students who do not speak English enter the
classroom, but the school does not have a TESOL-trained teacher on
staff to teach communication-based English to these students.
Opportunities are becoming increasingly available in private ESL
schools, public schools (may require teaching degree) and for tutoring
of these students
